Sinigang” is a short story written by Marie Audrey “Marby” J. Villaceran. It tells the story of Liza’s family. Liza’s father had extramarital affair with other woman that resulted to Liza’s estrangement to his father. It was titled “Sinigang” because the story revolve to Tita Loleng cooking Sinigang with Liza. Tita Loleng is asking Liza about meeting Sylvia the mistress of his father during the wake of her brother Lem who died because of cancer.

We are living in the society where extramarital affair seems to be normal nowadays. But the truth is its wrong and it will never be right. It doesn’t mean we are living in 21st century we will forget the values that God have given us. Marriage is a gift from God. God wants marriage to be sacred and honorable (Hebrews 13:4). What I learned in this short story is extramarital affair usually results to a broken family. Not just the parents separating but also children usually end up having estrange relationship with their parents. We are imperfect humans. We do make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are huge enough to break someone’s family. But it doesn’t mean we can’t put back things right to its respective places.

PS: I think it’s been years since I updated to this blog yet my update is for school. Yes, after years of fighting with my sickness (still fighting with it though HAHA) and contemplating if I can do schooling again, I decided to give it a go. This is for a new beginnings:)
